LaRon Evans

Laron Evans is a dynamic Gospel Preacher serving the Lord through preaching, teaching and evangelizing in Kansas City and the surrounding area.  He’s married to Jessyca Evans and has one daughter, Gabrielle Evans.  He is a native of Kansas City, MO where he graduated from Paseo High School of Performing Arts, majoring in Instrumental Music.  He graduated college from Iowa State University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He is currently working at Burns & McDonnell Engineering Firm as an Electrical Engineer in the Power Transmission and Distribution Division.

Laron was baptized into the body of Christ on August 12, 2005.  He began preaching at the West Side Church of Christ in Ames, IA in 2006.  He assisted Bro. David Tillmon preaching once a month at the Blue Ridge congregation from 2010 – 2013.  He has been invited to preach at several congregations including the Indiana Ave COC (Topeka, KS), 18th & Dennison COC (Muskogee, OK), Lehigh Valley COC (Lehigh Valley, PA), Roswell COC, (KC, KS) and Eastside COC (Lee’s Summit, MO).  He served as an assistant youth (teens) teacher at the Swope Parkway Church of Christ for 3 years and has been selected as the keynote speaker at a number of youth conferences and meetings.

Since 2013, Laron currently serves as an Evangelist at the Swope Parkway Church of Christ.  He strives to preach and teach the Word of GOD effectively, with the intent to bring lost souls to Christ and edify GOD’s family unto spiritual maturity and a life of good works, that the whole body of Christ may be presented Holy unto GOD.

Richard Fisher, Sr.

Brother Fisher was born to Frank and Elizabeth Fisher, the fourth of five children, three brothers and one sister. I was born and raised in historic Vine Street area of Kansas City Missouri.

I graduated from Westport High School where I met and married my high school sweetheart and the love of my life Bettie L. Simpson-Fisher we have shared 47 years of life together. I have been blessed to father three children Richard L. Fisher Jr., Rachel L. Fisher and Ryan L. Fisher. In addition a wonderful daughter-in-law Tamarah Fisher and a most precious gift from God four grandchildren. Richard L. Fisher III, Aaron Fisher, Royce L. Fisher, Reagan L. Fisher. I was employed for thirty years at Reichhold Chemical Co. before retiring.

I was added to the church in April 1999. I have always attended the Swope Parkway congregation. I take great pleasure serving in any way that I can. I am involved in various ministries, Worship Coordinator, Benevolence, Song Leader, Grounds, Visitation /Sick and shut in, Evangelism, Lost Coin, Teaching class when necessary. As well as participating in other special church events and activities.

I was installed as a Deacon on March 25, 2018, some of my favorite things to do are teaching the lost, singing, traveling, and fellowship with my immediate family and my church family.

My favorite bible scripture is Matthew 5:16” Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”.

It is a true blessing to serve the Lord.

Willie Jackson

Brother Willie Jackson was born in Georgia in 1944. He is the middle child of seven children. He attended college at AM&N in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Brother Jackson has been married to his lovely wife, Panora, for 42 years. He has four children and ten grandchildren. He retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad in 2007. Brother Jackson owns and manages two small businesses.  

He has served as a deacon at Swope Parkway since 2000. He is currently serving as the prison ministry director, transportation director, benevolence ministry coordinator and new converts teacher.  Brother Jackson teaches the benevolence non-members class on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

James Moss

James Moss was born and raised in Kansas City Missouri. James graduated from Lincoln High School and continued his education at the University of Missouri-Rolla where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

James is married to Pamela (Zollar) and they have 3 sons; James, Wendell and Courtney.

James obeyed the gospel in December of 2000 and was ordained a deacon in 2018.

James is currently active in the following ministries:

  • Grounds / Building Maintenance
  • Sick and Shut-in Visitation
  • Transportation
  • Usher / Worship Service

Harry Porchia

 Harry Porchia was born in Detroit Michigan on February 22, 1952.  He moved to Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 2.  He was baptized in 1970 by Huey Hervey.  Harry served in the Army from 1972 to 1974.  When he returned from the military he placed his membership at the Swope Parkway Church of Christ (formerly known as the 39th & Michigan Church of Christ.

In 1972 he married Debra Zollar-Porchia.  They have been married for 40 years.  They have 2 sons, one daughter and 7 grand-children.

Harry was ordained as a deacon in 1989.  He has been at Swope Parkway for 40 years.

Harry retired from the IRS in 2011 after 35 years of service.
